PERIODONTOLOGY
The department of Periodontics was established in the year 2004. The department is concerned with the gingival and periodontal health of every individual and was set up to render treatment which would benefit the common man.
Ever since the inception of the department we have successfully treated gingival and periodontal diseases with utmost care and in the meticulous manner. The department offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate (Ph.D) program. The postgraduate program started in the year 2006 and 24 students have successfully completed the training and are presently confident and successful academicians/practitioners.
Create interdisciplinary approach for solving dental problems through continuing education programs. Over the past several years the department’s commitment to offer quality educational experience has grown to include successful speciality conferences, conventions and forming study groups to impart knowledge on the advances in the field. The department conducted 7th National PG workshop of the Indian Society of Periodontology in the year 2008 and ‘Sameeksha’, a 3 day rapid revision program, in the year 2014 and 2015 in a grand way and was a tremendous success. The department took the initiative to form a study group in Periodontics involving the Periodontics departments of the neighbouring dental colleges in Udaipur. This was a very innovative step and has kindled a desire in other dental colleges across the state to form such study groups. The department regularly conducts CDE programs for the benefit of UG/ PG students and practitioners. The staff and postgraduates regularly publish articles in local, national and international journals. The research activities conducted in the department are published regularly. Daily programmed undergraduate classes are conducted in the mornings and all the lectures are supported with audio-visual aids. Clinics are conducted where the undergraduates are given individual attention for their clinical training. Students regularly attend seminars where the staff members interact with them and give further information on the advances and recent developments in the field. Postgraduates regularly have seminars, journal clubs and case presentations before taking a surgical cases.
